Author’s Note: I love these people. I really do. Ya know, this inspiration came when reading two comics as of late… There’s no real violence, no major villain plot… Just friendly confrontation. At least for NOW.

A Day In the Life Of…
By: Carmen Wayne
“MAN THE LIFE BOATS!!”
“AYE-AYE Cap’n!” A man rushed over to a computer and began typing rapidly. He then spun to his captain, eyes widened. “Cap’n, I can’t DO it! Not from here!”
“Hurry Lieutenant!” came the order. “We have to save everyone!”
“Sir, yes, sir!”
He rushed over and opened the door to another man, who was about to knock.
“What the Hell--?”
The first man grabbed him by the arms and shook him.
“Whaddya doin’ here, man?! The boat’s sinkin’!”
“It… is?”
The second man looked around curiously. He peered in at the captain and suddenly understood.
“Oh, I see!”
“Help the Lieutenant!” the captain ordered. “People could get hurt REALLY badly!”
Both men saluted and rushed away from the door. It slid shut and the second man sighed, looking at the first.
“Roy, you’ve got a visitor.”
Roy Harper ran a hand through his red hair and looked at his friend, Nightwing.
“Do I now?”
“Yeah. You want me to entertain the captain?” he asked. “He’s down in the pool area talking to Garth.”
“Okay… Really, though. Will you watch Lian for me?”
“Of *course* I will, Roy,” Nightwing said, smiling. “She’s such a sweet heart. NOTHING like *you*.”
“Sure.” Roy turned and walked back for the door. Nightwing followed, chuckling. He opened it and saluted. “Cap’n, all is safe!”
4 year old Lian Harper put her toy sword into its holster around her waist and saluted back.
“Okay! Good work, men! The people are safe!” she said, having to finish the act, before… “UNCLE NIGHTWING!”
She jumped off the bed and lunged for Nightwing. Nightwing laughed and caught her, hugging her warmly.
“Hey there, rug rat!” he said, smiling.
“Princess?” Roy asked.
Lian looked over Nightwing’s shoulder and smiled.
“Yes, daddy?” she asked.
“Uncle ‘wing’s gonna watch you for a while, okay? Daddy’s got to do something.”
“Uh oh,” Lian said with a growing frown. “Does that mean yer gonna get beat up?” she asked. “…Again?”
Nightwing laughed and leaned his forehead on her shoulder. Roy grinned and turned in the door, looking over his shoulder.
“I *will* be in the building, at least for a while, sweetie.”
“Oh, okay! Hey, Uncle ‘wing! Wanna play heroes? I’ll be daddy, and you can be you!”
“Sure, Lian! Do I get nunchucks?”
“Sure! Only if I get a bow and arrows!”
“Well, you ARE Arsenal! That’s supposed to be there!”
“Yay!”
Roy smiled and exited.

With a graceful twirl in the air, Garth dove into the pool and glided under the water. He trailed to the other end and surfaced, his eyes landing on the teenage boy that was sprawled on the floor nearby. He was pounding his head into the pavement over and over. Garth leaned his arms on the side of the pool and smiled.
“Roy’s on his way, you shouldn’t sweat it.”
“I’m an idiot… I’m a fool… I’m a emotionless swine!”
“Superboy…” Garth grinned. “Get over it. Want to swim?”
Kon-El AKA Superboy looked over at him, angry.
“No!”
Garth shrugged.
“Suit yourself, but it’s just wonderful!”
He dipped into the water and swam to the deep end to start exercising. Roy entered in soon after and grinned at Kon’s position.
“Dude, it doesn’t comply, get off it!” he laughed.
“Wha—oh… Ew!” Kon flew into the air and sighed. “I need your help.”
“Over what?” Roy asked. He crossed over, near Kon, and sat down in a pool chair. “What crisis this time? Terrorists? Meter striking Hawaii? Demons from the unknown barreling across the landscapes?”
“Worse,” Kon said as he eased into a chair next to him.
“Worse? What is it?” Roy asked, concerned.
Kon sighed.
“Love.”
Roy immediately got a understanding look.
“I understand. Who’s the lucky girl? Britney Spears? Tyra Banks?”
“Wonder Girl.”
Roy’s eyes slanted in humor.
“You too, eh? I wanted nothing more than to be with Donna when she was Wonder Girl. Hell, it’s the same now. Maybe not powered by as many hormones…”
“This isn’t hormones,” Kon said.
“Sure it’s not,” Roy said, humored.
“It’s not! It’s… so much more. I’ve *known* hormones, and this isn’t it.”
“Okay, then…”
“Yo, Roy!” Donna Troy called as she entered. “You’ve got a visitor down in the rec. room!”
“Are you serious? Aren’t I Mr. Popular? Can they come in here?”
“No. THEY have requested to be able to talk to you alone. As soon as possible.”
Roy stood and patted Kon.
“I’ll be right back. Think about what you want to ask me before I get back.”
“Sure.”
Roy exchanged shrugs with Donna and exited.

“You’re such a loud mouth!” Jesse Quick snapped.
“Iamsonot!” Impulse said. “I’mjusttruthful!”
Jesse rolled her eyes and shoved him away at super speed.
“You delivered Wonder Girl, now go away before you HURT something!”
“SeeyalaterJess!” Impulse waved. “ByeWondymeetyouinGotham!”
He shot out, vibrating through the walls. Jesse smiled to Wonder Girl, who hovered in the air with her arms wrapped around her legs.
“Roy’s on his way, kiddo. You want some Scotch or a smoke?”
Wonder Girl AKA Cassie shuddered.
“I *hate* that kind of stuff. Thanks though.”
The door opened and Jesse smirked.
“Good answer, and good luck. Caio—15423!!”
And then she was gone, and Roy was entering. He stopped a moment, and immediately realized this was going to be a HARD situation…
“Yo, Wondy Two! Sup?” he asked.
“Hey, Mr. Harper—“
“Roy.”
“*Roy*… I need your help! It’s about Superboy.”
“Uh-huh?”
“And, well, I’ve always been into him, right? But he’s not into me! I don’t think… and you’re good with this stuff, aren’t you?”
“Well—“ Roy’s Titans com went off. “What?!” he yelled into it.
“Roy,” Garth said, snickering. “Roy, I think you better get back to the pool area!”
“Grrr!” Roy looked at Wonder Girl as he ran for the door. “Wonder Girl, stay RIGHT here, I’ll be right back!”
“But—“
“Don’t ARGUE with me!”
Roy bolted out the door and ran all the way back to the pool room. Once there, he saw Superboy attempting to drown himself. Garth, humored as Hell, kept pushing the water away, and Superboy away as well. Roy walked over and grabbed Kon by the hair.
“Maybe water in the head’ll clear me up,” Kon grunted.
“Or maybe it’ll just make you hard of hearing! SIT DOWN, fool!”
Roy shoved Kon into a chair. He heard Garth snickering in the pool. Roy pointed a warning finger at Garth. With a grin, the Atlantean went under again and laid at the bottom of the pool. Roy sighed and knelt in front of the teen boy.
“God…” Kon murmured. “What do I do?”
“Well… do you think Wondy has feelings for you?”
“I *know* she does, but that’s NOT the point, Harper!”
“You just don’t want to admit defeat, do you?”
“Somewhat, yeah…”
Roy acked as water was flipped on him. He walked over and looked down at Garth in the water. Garth pointed in the direction of the door and symbolized pigtails on each side of his head. Roy slapped his head.
“D-uh!” he yelled angrily.
He stomped the cement, sending a horrid sound into the water. Garth cringed and covered his ears.
“Troubles?” Kon asked.
Roy turned and held up a finger.
“You stay put.”
And with that, he ran out.

ONE HOUR LATER:
“WHEEE!!!” Lian laughed out.
Nightwing ran around Roy’s bedroom, holding her above his head in a flying position. He spun around and dipped her down in front of him.
“Fly, Supergirl, fly!” he laughed.
“I’m flying!! Yay!!”
Nightwing spun around again and brought her up to hug her. He sat down on the foot of the bed and smiled at her.
“Are you tired yet?” he asked.
“Nope!” she said, hugging him.
Nightwing laughed hard and shook his head.
“You’re so like your daddy, it scares me. The way this is going, you’re going to be worse than him!”
Lian rested her head on his shoulder, turning serious.
“Uncle ‘wing, am I gonna have you forever?”
Nightwing frowned, and then nodded.
“Of course, as long as I’m allowed to be here.”
“Allowed?”
“Well… There’s this *guy* I kinda, sorta believe in, right?”
“Yeah?”
“And He’s REALLY powerful. And… Well, He decides how long we stay here on earth, and when we… go to Him.”
“Why?”
“Because, He’s EVERYONE’s daddy. And sometimes He gets lonely, and needs someone as company. So, He chooses someone to come up every so often, and He throws a BIG party for whoever it is with all His other children!”
“But… if there’s so many people there all ready…”
“Well, it’s because He loves us all and… sometimes it’s just time for us to go home. Sorta like there’s a different curfew on us all…”
Lian frowned and looked him straight in the eyes.
“When’s daddy’s curfew?” she asked.
“No one knows. Only the big guy up THERE knows.” He pointed upwards. “But, I’m sure it’s far… FAR away, sweetheart.”
“M’kay…” she said, frowning.
And just then, the door flew open to a disheveled Roy.
“NO MORE!!!!!”
Nightwing grinned and looked at Lian.
“That’s not planning any possible heart attacks or aneurisms.”
Lian giggled and watched as her father began to fume the moment the door shut.
“I HATE TEENAGERS!” Roy screamed at Nightwing. “All the time, always whining about SEX, LOVE, ALCOHOL, SUPER VILLIANS! Can’t they be at least a little mature?! You DO know that if they brought chastity belts back in, they’d also have to put mouth locks on the girls because they’d—“
“Roy! Not around your daughter!”
Roy collapsed on his bed behind Nightwing and Lian, on his back.
“Okay, so get this one… Wonder Girl has this HUGE crush on Kon-El, but thinks that he doesn’t like her. She’s sitting in the Rec. Room bawling into Wal’s shoulder right now. And then we’ve got Kon in the pool area, trying to kill himself because HE, come to find out, LOVES HER! *Loves* her! But he doesn’t know how to tell her. So, they’re both here and they don’t have a CLUE that the other is here also. Which brings me to my dilemma. Do I tell them? And if not, what do I tell them to do? Tell them to do opposite things so things’ll go nice ‘n slow for them? Or do I tell to just profess their love so teen pregnancy becomes THAT much more of an option?!”
“You make it sound so… crude, Roy. Don’t you remember being their ages? Hell, it wasn’t that long ago,” Nightwing said quietly. “You would have done anything for Donna, and finally she and you went out. True, it didn’t last long, but you still love her and you both grew stronger from it… Roy, what would YOU want to be told to do if you were in their shoes?”
Roy stared up at the ceiling, silent. He was obviously thinking things through, especially what his friend just said. Finally, he looked over at Nightwing.
“You know, you’re right. They gotta make their own mistakes. But not without guidance first.”
“Exactly!”
Roy stood up on the bed victoriously.
“So GUIDANCE they shall HAVE!”
“Oh God, ROY!”
“No time, Robby, gotta run!”
He leapt off the bed and ran out the door. Nightwing, still carrying Lian, ran out after him, stopping in the hall.
“HARPER! Boy, doncha do nuthin’ stupid!” Nightwing yelled in a trashy Southern accent.
Roy spun around and walked backwards. He staggered around as if he were a little “tipsy”.
“You ain’t gonna stop me none!” He saw Argent walking for a door near him and went to her, slinging an arm around her shoulders. “Toni, girl, ya gotta go stall my lover up there.” He pointed over at Nightwing. “He’s gonna pimp slap me!”
He took off running. Argent blinked… and then laughed hard, walking for the door. Nightwing heard her and frowned.
“Toni! What did Harper say to you?”
“Nothing!”
“TONI!”

Wonder Girl thumbed a part of her tank top, sad and upset. Suddenly, Roy busted in, locked and loaded with weapons galore. Wonder Girl pressed back into her seat as he approached her. She placed a foot up at his chest and narrowed her eyes.
“Careful…” she warned. “No closer.”
Roy leaned on her foot and shrugged.
“You don’t want my ultimate advice? Fine.”
The blonde girl raised an eyebrow, staring at him.
“Talk.”
“I think you need to take this slow. You don’t want to make the mistakes I’ve made in life.” He pushed off her feet, steady on his own. “But that doesn’t mean you need to be afraid of what’s going to happen if you stand in front of him and say, ‘Kon-El, I love you’ you know?”
“I… guess… Yeah, you’re right! I just gotta stand up to my fears, but not get carried away! Right?”
She dropped her foot to the floor and Roy leapt into her lap.
“Right! Now, what I need you to do is to sit here for five—not four, not six—FIVE minutes, at which point you’ll make your way to the pool area. You know where that is?”
“You’re heavy, and your crossbow is digging into my thigh… Yep!”
Roy patted her head and leapt to his feet. He waved to her and walked out. Without pausing, he made his way down to the pool room. Upon opening the door, he found Garth and Kon-El in a staring contest.
‘Well, at least he’s preoccupied. I’ll hafta thank the fish boy later,’ Roy thought.
Roy walked over and grabbed Kon by the hair and pulled him away.
“ACK! HEY!!” Kon screamed.
“Haha! I win!” Garth mocked.
Kon growled like a dog at him, but Roy kept a hold of him as he glared at Garth.
“You’re no help, you know that?”
“I’m as much help to you with your things as you are to me with my things.”
“…What?! No, never mind. But you need to leave.”
“Why?”
Roy glared at him, winked, and then looked towards a back door. Garth took the hint and left that way, to wait for Roy. Once the door shut (for the most part), Roy turned his attentions to Kon.
“Kon, okay, look. It’s like this. You love her, and you know she would want to know, right?” he asked.
“Well… Yeah, I guess.”
“My recommendation is this: Tell her!”
“I can’t just go, ‘Cassie! I love you!’ Roy!!”
“You sure can. Sure, it’ll be different when you’re talking to her, but, whatever. Just prepare yourself for anything that could happen. Now, I want you to sit down and think it over. You’re not allowed to leave until five minutes from now.”
He shoved Kon into his former seat and walked away. He heard Kon cursing under his breath and tap his feet in unison. Roy exited the same door Garth went through and joined Garth in peeking through at Kon-El.
“Why does he have to stay there?” Garth whispered.
“The love of his life is due in soon, really soon. Neither know about each other.”
“That’s romantic.”
“Yeah, I kn—shh!”
The doors inside slide open and Wonder Girl walked in cautiously, looking around. Kon-El saw her and leapt to his feet.
“Cassie!”
Wonder Girl gasped as her eyes fixed on him.
“Kon?!”
With an internal nod, Kon walked towards her.
“Cass, we need to talk.”
“Yeah, we do,” she said with a nod.
“Cass… I-I…” Kon cringed as something hit him in the back. “I like you a LOT, Cassie!” he blurted out.
**
Garth slapped his forehead and Roy groaned.
“Kon-Elllll,” he hissed. “You’re old enough to use the word love!”
**
Wonder Girl smiled a little, stifling a laugh.
“I… like you a lot too.”
“Really? Uhm… Yeah, I knew that!” He shuffled his feet a little and then smiled at her. “Cass?”
“Yeah?”
“You. Uhm. Wanna get a bite to eat?”
“When?”
“Right now?”
**
“Question… he made it a question…” Roy groaned.
“Maybe you should have given him lessons on when to ask questions or act like a complete and total ass,” Garth said.
“Shut up, Gillhead.”
**
“Well… I guess,” Wonder Girl said, still unsure. “Kon. Are you joshing me here?” she asked.
“No!” Kon said, almost offended. “God no! I’m serious…”
Wonder Girl smiled and took his hand.
“Then so am I.”
**
“Awww,” Roy snickered.
“She’s better at this than he is,” Garth said.
“That’s sad. At least we know who’ll be wearing the pants of the two.”
“No kidding.”
“Poor girl’s gonna go lesbian if he messes this up.”
“Yeah, I *know*. That’s where YOU step in.”
“Me?!”

Nightwing, now actually Dick Grayson after he stole some of Roy’s and Garth’s clothes, finished packing a huge suitcase with toys from both Lian’s and Roy’s rooms. But still, he left some space inside. He turned to where Lian was fishing around her father’s closet. She was all ready wearing his red sports jacket.
“You ready to go, sweetheart?” he asked.
Lian put on her father’s red baseball cap and spun to him, on her heel.
“Just about! Uncle Dick, can I take my Robby-bear?” she asked.
“Robby-bear?” Dick asked. “What do you mean?”
Lian went over to her back pack and gathered up a green bear with gold trimming and red eyes. On it’s chest was a gold ‘R’. She turned and held it up to him as she walked back.
“Didn’t daddy tell you about my Robby-bear?” she asked like he should know.
Dick sat on Roy’s bed and waved for her.
“No. Will you tell me?”
Lian clamored up into his lap and settled in his lap. Snuggling it, she spoke quietly:
“Daddy said his name is Robby. He said its ‘cause all Batman’s boys are named Robin, and that they’re all reallyyyy good guys, and protect kids like me! And they help Batman keep everyone safe, and that it’s okay that they’re not super powered because they’re really good at what they do and could beat super guys any day!”
“Did he now?” Dick asked, amused.
“Yeah! And-And he said that if I ever get scared, the Robby-bear’ll keep me comp’ny.” She pushed the left paw on the bear and a soft melody began playing as the eyes lit up in a soft red haze. “See?”
Dick hugged her and found himself smiling wide.
“Your daddy is right, you know. He always is.”
Lian looked at him with hopeful eyes.
“Do you think *I* could meet Robin, Uncle Dick?”
“You better believe it, sugar-doll! Now, lets get moving ‘fore your daddy catches on to our little plan!”
“COOL! Lets go!”
NOT the end… heheh.
